Exmoor is home to three interesting railways: Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway, Lynton & Barnstaple Railway & West Somerset Railway. The former is the world famous water powered funicular railway connecting the twin villages. The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway is a restoration project of the picturesque narrow gauge at Woody Bay Station where one mile of track has been re-instated. Finally the West Somerset Railway at some 23 miles in length is the longest privately owned passenger rail line in Great Britain.

The East Lyn River from Watersmeet & Rockford to Lynmouth Harbour provides excellent and challenging conditions. Kayakers frequently run this river in the winter when seeking the thrill of a challenging Grade 4 paddle. The two rivers most suited to canoeing are the rivers Barle and Exe, both are classed as Grade 1 or 2 rivers. With the Bristol Channel having the 2nd highest tidal range in the world sea kayaking as well is becoming ever more popular along the rugged Exmoor coast.

Coasteering is the traversing of sea cliffs by wading in waist deep water and scrambling up rocky coastal outcrops. Enjoy rock climbing, starting with a basic introduction which will progress as your confidence develops. This is an ideal environment for both coasteering and rock climbing. Let some of Devon's leading instructors take you on the spectacular climbs that can be found along North Devon's rugged coastline and remote hills.

Exmoor can offer the responsible driver some great off-roading. Hill climbs and steep, rocky descents together with narrow lanes and tracks, river crossings and spectacular scenery and wildlife present both the novice and experienced driver a great time.  Safaris provide an excellent way of seeing the wildlife, and sheer beauty of the Exmoor countryside. This is a wonderful way of seeing areas of the moor off the beaten track with an experienced guide.
